Sleepless nights and a heavy heart have etched deep furrows into the face of the President as he grieves for the fallen sons and brothers of his beloved nation. Though George Washington was the father of our country, Abraham Lincoln was the father of our union. To him we owe a debt of immense gratitude. His immortal words are seared into our hearts, and we must determine with him, "....That we are here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain - that this nation under God, shall have a new birth of freedom - and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth."
