These sculptures are meticulously handcrafted by Big Sky Carvers artists based on my own life experiences. Each Piece comes with a copy of the story from which it was inspired. “Bears are funny. They can be imposing, ferocious, murderous, ambling, animated, or goofy. I’ve never watched a big bear without thinking about how well-equipped they are to take out a slow, weak mammal like me. On the other hand, when they are digging grubs in Yellowstone or catching salmon in Alaska, they are fun to watch, for they’re concentrating only on the thousands of calories it takes to move them around all day. Their massive paws seem better equipped to drag down an elk or caribou than anything else, but in fact they can do it all and are uniquely equipped by the Creator to harvest a variety of wild foods. I find most people love and are deeply fascinated by bears — as long as they’re at a distance! Here, mom is teaching the kids perhaps their most valuable lesson: how to take advantage of the spectacular protein buffet known as a salmon run.” - Marc Pierce, Founder - Big Sky Carvers
