These sculptures are meticulously handcrafted by Big Sky Carvers artists based on my own life experiences. Each Piece comes with a copy of the story from which it was inspired. “I think what makes moose so fascinating is that they don’t seem like they belong anywhere. Bears make sense, and elk are just big, majestic deer. Sheep, goats, and deer all seem like they belong. But what are we to make of this bearded behemoth mule with stilts for legs who is standing up to his neck in a marsh? However, what makes them odd also makes them one of the more interesting creatures in North America. And it’s not just their looks. They’re different from the other forest animals. Not much scares a moose, and not much makes him move very fast. They don’t travel in herds. They’re unpredictable, seeming not to know where they’re headed. In towns like Anchorage and Bozeman, they show up in backyards on their way to who-knows-where. They live in the harshest of climates and conditions but they never complain. Majestic, mysterious, huge and wonderful, they are simply… moose.” -Marc Pierce, Founder - Big Sky Carvers. Marsh Mates
